This week I
have read article entitled “Facebook building a version of Instagram for
children under 13”, whose author is Josh Taylor. This text tells about
facebook's upcoming plans to increase the safety of teenagers and children on
the Internet. For this reason, the company is working on a new version of the Instagram
application designed specifically for 13-year-olds kids. Facebook also wants to
exclude adults from writing to teenagers without observing each other. This is
a real problem because, according to published data, in Australia as many as
57% of teenagers use Instagram, 30% declared that they were contacted by an
adult stranger, and 20% received unwanted content from them.
In my
opinion the moves made by Facebook about Instagram for children are very good. However,
I am not completely convinced of the latter option, because it would make
contact with my adult friends difficult.
